How to delete my account
There is an option for the application user to delete his account from within the application.
Please follow the following steps:
- At the Home screen, open the top left menu
- Select the ‘Delete account’ option
When selecting this menu option the app will prompt the user to confirm if he is sure to delete his account. Prompt will have 2 buttons:
- Cancel delete – I will keep my account
- OK – go ahead and delete the account
- If Ok, the app will prompt for a 2nd user confirmation as deleting an account is not a recoverable action. Prompt will again offer 2 buttons: Cancel or OK
- If user selects OK again – user will be asked to enter a verification code sent to his mobile device over WhatsApp or SMS
- Enter the received code to confirm and your account will be permanately deleted
Types of deleted or saved Information
Once deleting an account majority of user uploaded information (and files) is deleted from TheShop platform, but some of the uploaded information will still be saved, as described in the Privacy Policy and below.
Majority of uploaded inforamation such as User profile, Shop profile, shop and/or user information, names, addresses, uploaded pictures, inventory items, deals, feed posts and comments and others, all such information will be deleted from TheShop server and will stop beeing discoverable by app users.
Following are the exceptions under which, some user uploaded information will not be fully deleted from TheShop platform although the account was deleted by the application user:
- All the reservations / orders related information that were created by customers and received by shops. This information is saved in TheShop database and archive to keep trace of purchsing transactions history, either for the customer or for the shop owner. This also includes money payment transactions history.
- All information that was exchanged with other users as part of the ongoing use of the application, such as but not limited to, chat messages, feed posts and comments, presents, friends invitations etc
- All such information is deleted from TheShop servers and will not be available and/or discoverable by any other app users.
- All such information that was exchanged with specific other application users, those specific users will still have a local copy of this exchanged information, and it will be available only for them as a locally saved copy.
- Payment related information, such as bank or credit card accounts and/or other related payment account information, is not saved by TheShop platform but only saved by the third-party Payment Gateway service. As part of deleting TheShop account, TheShop also deletes the account at the Payment Gateway (if such was created) thus no new transactions will be able to be made on those deleted accounts. However, the Payment Gateway services are keeping the accounts until all previous transactions are completed and also maintain policies regarding keeping payment history information based on each country rules and regulations. The user can learn the third party Payment Gateways guidelines for keeping personal data via their own Privacy Policy which is accessiable thru TheShop Privcy Policy, under the Payment Data section.
How to request for user personal data
There is an option for an application user to request his personal data for different reasons. Reason to request such information may be:
- To get a copy of the saved personal data.
- To ask for deleting the saved personal data.
- To update or correct parts of the saved personal data.
- To object the use of his saved personal data
- To contact TheShop data protection officer
- For any other reason
To ask for your own personal data needs to be done thru the app in the Privacy Policy section. Please follow the following steps:
- In the Home screen, open the top left menu
- Select the ‘About’ option
- Select the ‘Privacy Policy’ option
- In this section there is a button to Submit a request for User personal data.
When click on the Submit button, a new screen will be opened for the user to fill in following information:
- Email address
- Reason – drop down menu
- Request Description
The response for such submit will be sent by email, to the provided email address
Please note that as part of the personal data response, any private and/or sensitive information such as ID numbers, bank account or credit card numbers etc will not be fully disclosed but only partially disclosed, using the last 3 digits.
